Info

The day my girlfriend and I toured Wente wineries and a made a friend in an older Cal Poly alumni (our tourguide!).

We had planned to go wine tasting in the Livermore Valley, and finally the day had come!  I showed up at Dublin Bart bundled, wearing jeans and a coat, only to be welcomed by the Tri-Valley heat.  Thankfully, like my fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega (an offiliate of the Boy Scouts of America), had taught me, I was always prepared.  I changed quickly into my sun dress on our way to the car.

We popped into the main tasting room where we were greeted with a jovial, older man.  He shared his knowledge of wine and how it was made, and after some time of chatting, we realized we all had gone to Cal Poly, SLO (the real Cal Poly).  We continued to talked until our chat and tasting was interrupted by our tour.  To our pleasant surprise, our new friend was our tour guide.  He continued to educate us about viticulture and the history of the Wente Vinyards.  After the tour my girlfriend and I continued our chat with our new friend over several hours and several more complimentary tastings.

It’s a real treat when you can spend time getting to know a kind-hearted stranger (and a fellow Cal Poly alumni).
